About Me

I joined my first fitness center, Nautilus Fitness in Sandy Springs Georgia, in 1977 at the age of 17. Since then I have worked out in everything from true "grunt works" hole-in-the-wall gyms, US Army and military gyms, and the box shops like LA Fitness, Gold's Gym, and Planet Fitness. For the average person, I find very little difference in the results you can achieve in any of those facilities or at home, on the trail, or deployed to some uninviting location. What can make the real difference is a true trainer. Someone who knows the science, the sports applications, the tactical demands, or the pressures of being a mom and the needs for fitness of the older crowd. That's ME!

Nothing I do is new or not available in other places. Everything I combine for your personalized experience, or even my books and videos, are unique in the experience I bring and the way the content is combined. This is one reason I am certain you will see results because there is nothing that has not been tested and proven. In case you are unaware, the word "tactical", though almost always conjuring thoughts of military or law enforcement, actually did not originate from either profession. It simply means, according to the Oxford Dictionary, “showing adroit planning; aiming at an end beyond the immediate action.”

For the last ten years I have been very focused on nutrition. It was my personal experience that lead me to challenge the "diet plans" and "quick fixes" that seem to pop-up in increasing numbers every year. One rule of thumb I live by in the sport science and nutrition industries is that anything that only one person or company claims to have that can do what no other person or company can do isn't even worth the time researching (with the extremely rare exception). My focus is on mitochondrial sustenance and cellular respiration as a specific and on whole body nutrition as a general. Strength can never be maintained without first having a good nutrition plan. I believe the best results are 75% what we eat and drink and 25% what we do and think.

Nutrition, exercise, activity, and attitude (state of mind) all work together to strengthen and even heal the body. Many people, including physicians, will testify positively of the transformative power of fitness and nutrition. Primarily diseases of natural progression such as heart disease, diabetes, certain age related and hormone related diseases may respond very quickly to fitness and nutrition changes.
